My daughter
is a stock chart
expanding
on increasing volume
and institutional inflows.
She squeezes short sellers
and triggers
precipitous covering
above the ask price.
She dominates
retail trader attention
and all of their social feeds.
She is a trending finance topic,
a viral trading hashtag,
an all-eyes CNBC headline.
My daughter is the ghost
of Charles Dow,
and the insurmountable
buying pressure
that drives
the irrational exuberance
of a frenzied bull market.
And me,
I am a devout worshipper,
cowering before
her closing price,
praying to the gods of stock
that this rally
never comes to an end.
